If you've been on Twitter at all over the past few days, you've probably come across the gif from Friends where Chandler asks Ross and Rachel's daughter Emma if she's still enjoying her nap in the year 2020. The reference comes from season 10 episode 'The One with the Cake,' which features the birthday party Ross and Rachel throw for Emma's first birthday. The only problem? Little Geller-Green won't wake up from her nap and the rest of the gang have other plans, leading Chandler to make his sassy remark in a video message for future Emma.
As we approached 2020 IRL, the clip (and gifs of the clip) from 'The One with the Cake' got shared on social media repeatedly. If you need a reminder of the line and can't rewatch the episode anymore because Friends left Netflix, here's a quick reminder:
The moment got turned into a huge meme, which led to the actress who played baby Emma to finally respond to Chandler's question. Noelle Sheldon took to Instagram with a photo of her holding a Central Perk mug. "Just woke up from the best nap of all time, happy 2020!!" she wrote. "Hope everyone has an excellent year full of family, friends, and laughter!!"
It looks like little Emma got the last laugh on her Uncle Chandler, even if took a few decades for her to wake up from that nap.
